Growing up a young girl on a 330 acre cattle farm provided me with a multitude of outside adventures; feeding the cows, jumping hay bales, playing by the turtle pond, fishing for sunnies, and eating mulberries off the tree were but a few of my favorites. However, as time passed, I found myself wanting to explore and see what lay beyond the small town limits. Fast forward through moving away to college and getting my first real teaching job. I met a wonderful man named Brian Olden who I'm lucky enough to call my husband. We fell in love and had the most beautiful wedding (hot, but beautiful). Check out these shots from our big day in July 2013. Fast forward again. We found out in November 2015 that we'd be expecting our first child near our 3rd wedding anniversary. After weighing the options and some serious conversations, we both decided to leave our jobs and move back to my family's farm. Brian was lucky enough to have been given an opportunity to stay in the culinary field as the executive chef and culinary manager at Potomac State College. Today marks almost two weeks since we made our transition. While our new house has boxes still to be unpacked in nearly every room, we're finding life on the farm to be exactly what we'd hoped for. As it turns out, all of those things I enjoyed as a child are still at the top of my list. And hopefully in time, they will be at the top of our daughter's list too.
