Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, and singers of song. - Pam Brown I'm lucky enough to call some of the best men in the world Dad. Both have been pillars guiding me through life. Demonstrating what respect, love, kindness, having fun and working hard mean. The quote by Pam Brown could not ring any more true when it comes to my dads. My dad Jimmy Dale is seriously the best story-teller you could ever hope to meet. When he starts telling a story you instantly get sucked into this middle realm where you're seeing everything take place, and you really experience it as if you were there with him. Even though I've heard most of his stories more times that I can count, I always love listening when he starts telling them again. And my step-dad Dave is a phenomenal guitar player and singer. As a kid I would sit and listen to him practice and sing songs to my mom. One of my favorites that I still can't help but get giddy about singing along to is a song called Marie Laveau. I remember as a kid just begging for him to play it so my mom and I could sing our parts. This year is also special because in just a few weeks Brian will get to hold our daughter. I know he will be a wonderful dad because he's already a fantastic husband. He lays his head on my belly and talks to her and gives her kisses. I can only imagine what he's going to do when he can actually see and hold her. (Pardon me while I grab a tissue. Haha!) To make this Father's Day a little sweeter I decided to make a special dinner and bake everyone a dessert. Both of my dads love coconut and the Samoa girl scout cookies (But come on, who doesn't, right?!), so I made them both a Samoa bundt cake. Brian also likes coconut, but about a year ago I made a pina colada cake and he swears it's the best cake he's ever eaten. So, I decided to surprise him with a somewhat modified and improved version of that good ol' pina colada cake.
